Privacy Policy

Cann Compare (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a cannabis retail price-comparison tool. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you create an account we store your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
• Account management records. To support your account and run our business, our team may keep internal notes about your account and a record of any run credits we grant you (for example a free trial credit or a goodwill top-up). These records are visible only to our staff and are used for support, account management, and to prevent abuse of free credits.
• Comparison data. When you run a comparison, we store the store URLs you submit and the resulting report so you can revisit it. These reports are automatically deleted 30 days after they are created.
• Payment information. Purchases are processed by our third-party payment processor, Square. Your card details are entered with Square and never touch our servers. We retain only a payment reference, the amount, and the status of each purchase for accounting and to credit your account. Billing and credit terms are set out in our Terms of Service.
• Analytics data. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic and page performance. This collection is cookieless: it sets no cookies and stores no identifiers on your device. It records anonymized, aggregate events such as page views and Core Web Vitals, and does not build a profile of you or track you across other websites.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and our analytics are cookieless. The only cookie we set is a strictly necessary session cookie that keeps you signed in after you log in. Because it is essential to providing a service you have requested, it does not require consent, and we do not display a cookie banner.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
• To run the comparisons you request and show you the results.
• To process purchases and credit comparison runs to your account.
• To manage your account, provide support, and prevent abuse of free credits.
• To measure aggregate traffic and site performance so we can improve the product.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of third parties to operate the service. Each processes data only as needed to provide their function:

• Vercel — website hosting, plus cookieless Web Analytics and Speed Insights.
• Square — payment processing.
• Apify — retrieves the public catalog data from the store URLs you submit in order to build your comparison.

Emails we send

We send two kinds of email, and they follow different rules.

Account emails — password resets, purchase receipts, and notices about a comparison run you paid for. These are part of running your account, so we send them for as long as you have one. You can't turn them off; doing so would mean you couldn't reset your own password.

Comparison reminders — roughly two weeks after a comparison, we may email you once to point out that prices have likely moved since. This is the only marketing email we send. Every one carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all of them immediately and permanently. It does not affect your account emails.

We don't sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone for their own marketing.

Data retention

Comparison reports are deleted automatically 30 days after creation. Account and payment records are kept for as long as your account is active, or as needed to meet legal and accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
